Fun In The Sun!

Ahh...sweet summertime! I really hate to see it leave us in a few short weeks, though I am ready for cooler weather to roll on in.  One thing I'm definitely going to miss is trips to Mayfield Dairy for a big cone of some of their scrumptious ice cream!  My favorite flavor is definitely Mint Chocolate Chip!  Can't you tell that I'm ready to lick away?

Like me, Abby is a huge fan of Mint Chocolate Chip, too, but she, also, loves Rainbow Sherbet!

Too bad Brittany was out doing her own thing on this particular day.  Mmm...she doesn't know what she missed!

For July 4th, we headed to my mother-in-law's place in South Carolina for three days.  Both of the girls brought along their best friends and they all had such fun!  We spent a lot of time on the lake, which is in my mother-in-law's backyard.  We took the girls tubing and skiing every day.  Here they are riding the waves...literally!  I can't help but laugh at the look of utter terror on their faces!

Brittany and Chris were the only two who decided to go skiing.  Well, Alicia tried, but wasn't very successful, bless her heart.  I definitely give her an A+ for effort! Brittany learned how to ski last summer and it took her a few tries before she had the hang of it, again.

Here's Mr. Show-Off himself...skiing slalom.

On July 3rd, my mother-in-law always hosts a huge outdoor party for about 70 people.  She provides Frogmore Stew, hotdogs, and drinks and everyone else brings a dish to share.  The food is always the highlight of the evening. Homemade banana pudding, cole slaw, apple pie...need I say more? Then, there's a big fireworks display directly across the lake from the point she lives on, so we always have the perfect view.

Here's Alicia and Brittany hamming it up for the camera.

Abby and Kelcie had a ball driving around in my mother-in-law's golf cart.

Chris is helping his good friend, Russel, make sure the stew doesn't boil over.

Abby and I are trying to decide what we're going to pile on our plates.

This is one of several beautiful sunsets we got to enjoy while we were there.  Almost takes your breath away, doesn't it?

I'm not quite sure where my next post will take us, but you can rest assured knowing it will be yet another adventure!

Fun At The Lake

I've, finally, come to a conclusion. I'm ready to pack my bags, buy a house on a lake, and live out the rest of my days in sweet content. Oh, if it were only that simple! As you know, we spent the 4th of July weekend in South Carolina at my mother-in-law's house...she lives on beautiful Lake Murray. Both of my girls brought a friend along and they sure had a good time! I thought you might like to see some pictures I took while we were there.

Here's Abby and her friend, Katelyn, shortly after we arrived and were about to go on a boat ride.
About all we did for the next few days was take the girls tubing. They had a blast! I love the expression on Abby's face!
And on Brittany's!Hold on Kelsey!Katelyn's about to slip-slide away! Bella and Maddie just sat on the boat and took it all in. No tubing for those girls!
Abby doing a cannonball off the dock...though it looks like she's sitting still!
After only one attempt, Brittany popped up out of the water and started skiing...she was so excited! She stayed up for a good while! I didn't try this time around...my snow skiing escapade has made me a wimp! My mother-in-law hosted a party on the 4th for about 50 people. We had Brunswick stew, cornbread, potato salad, watermelon, Key Lime Pie...the list goes on! It was almost like a church potluck! Since my mother-in-law lives right on a point, you could see the fireworks display over the lake perfectly.

Here's Brittany with her friend, Kelsey.
Chris giving Abby lessons in how to play horseshoes.
Abby and Katelyn battling it out to break their tie!
Me with the hubby.Brittany with the princess herself. One of many gorgeous sunsets that were seen from my mother-in-law's backyard. It's a sight I can never get enough of!
I hope all of you had a great 4th with family and friends! Now, it's back to REALITY...I say let's all just live in denial! :)

Photo Tag!

I've been tagged by my blogging friend, Sue, and was instructed to go where I store my pictures and choose the fourth folder and then the fourth picture in that folder. I was tagged a few months ago, so I went to my fifth folder and chose the fifth photo, instead, to avoid posting the same picture as last time.

This past July, we went to my mother-in-law's house in South Carolina. Brittany's best friend, Alicia, came along with us and the girls had such a ball! My brother-in-law has a ski boat, so we went tubing one day. When the raft hit the wake from the boats, it would bounce all over the place! Watching them from the boat made me a nervous wreck, at times, but they had so much fun! Brittany is on the left, Abby is in the middle, and Alicia is on the right. They laughed and giggled the entire time!

I even got on the raft and went tubing! It was a lot of fun, but there were a couple of times when I saw my life flash before my eyes...thanks to Chris, who was driving the boat! Brittany and I hit some waves and we went flying! Thank goodness for life jackets, is all I have to say! I'll do just about anything to make some memories with my family! Here's the proof...

The calm before the storm...

And just a few minutes later...POW!!! Britany and I both got plastered right in the face! Alright, you can stop laughing now!

I'm supposed to tag 4 people, but I'm just going to say that if you'd like to play along, please join in the fun! Have a magnificient Monday!
