Afterthoughts Of Thanksgiving

Am I the only one who feels like Thanksgiving was here one minute and gone the next? I don't know what happened!

Brittany got up around 4 AM on Wednesday morning to make the 5 1/2 hour trip back home. She got here around 11:30 AM. It was so good to have her home, again! As you can see, Bella would hardly let her out of her sight. Buds for life!

My mother-in-law, Diane, and my brother-in-law, Sandy, didn't arrive until about 5 PM. They'd broken down right after they left and had to get a radiator in their truck replaced. Shortly after they walked in the door, they went back outside and came in carrying a huge wrapped up recylcing bin.

Here's what was inside...a 5-layer red velvet cheesecake. I about croaked! It had a POUND of butter in it, not to mention 2 boxes of confectioners sugar. Did I mention the 3 containers of cream cheese ?  My arteries were screaming at the very thought!

That night, we grilled out hamburgers because I knew that on Thanksgiving Day, I'd be spending half the day in the kitchen cooking...and I did.

I was so proud of myself! I made a homemade coconut cream pie that would have given my mom's (whose was the BEST!) a run for her money!

I served everything buffet style, which worked out great!

Let the feasting begin...

After we ate 'til our tummies almost burst, the girls and I headed to the park for a little walk. Just love being with these two silly people!

At one point, we saw about 7 deer grazing in a field. Such a neat surprise!

So, all-in-all, I'd say that Thanksgiving was a success! Later this week, I plan to show our Christmas tree that we decorated on Saturday. Feels good to be able to scratch one more thing off the list!

The bad thing - I'm sure I could have ate every bite of those desserts... because my body needs all that butter & sugar! :)

Love you got some time to exercise after being in the kitchen all day & spent some time with your girls.

Since I can take or leave cheesecake, that coconut cream pie would have been my choice for seconds! :)

Love the photos you shared, and so happy your Thanksgiving was blessed with family and good food!!

Glad you enjoyed time with your girls. I like a walk on Thanksgiving too. And our pup is also always so happy to have everyone home, almost as much as we are I think : )

Families at Thanksgiving. I'm so glad you had time for just you and your girls during this hectic time. Treasure these times. I spent the day with my two sisters and our hubbys. It was our first Thanksgiving together like that and it was so nice.

If that coconut cream pie tasted even half as good as it looked, it had to have been a huge hit!! I love coconut cream pie, and I swear I'm drooling right now. ;-)
