Our Shooting Range Adventure

Yesterday afternoon, Chris got this wild idea to take all of us to a local shooting range to learn how to shoot guns. Now, I must admit, I'm not a big fans of guns; they've always made me nervous. However, I knew it was something Chris has been wanting to do for awhile, so I agreed.  I can't think of the last time I've seen him as happy as he was when he was packing up the guns and ammo.  He looked like a little kid in a candy shop.

Thankfully, there were a few other females at the shooting range when we arrived, so we didn't feel too out-of-place.  Boy, was it  ever LOUD!  I felt like I was in the middle of a war zone!  It took me a few mins. to get acclimated to all the noise.  Every time a gun went off, I'd nearly jump right out of my skin!  The girls just stood there and laughed at me.

Brittany was the first one to shoot the .22.  She looked like a pro because she'd taken a gun safety course way back when she was about 9 years old.

Abby was next in line.  She was a pretty got shot herself!

Fianlly, I got a turn...and several bull's eyes to brag about!  WOO  HOO!

Not too shabby for three girls!

Next, we tried our hands at the Berreta. You had to hold on tight!

As soon as we pulled the trigger, it gave a kick that none of us was prepared for!

KA-POW!

Of course, the "master" himself had to show us how it's done...and he didn't flinch one bit!

Abby's favorite gun to shoot was the .38 revolver.

Chris was pretty impressed with our shooting skills and I think we just might have to go back  for another round sometime.  It ended up being a lot more fun than the girls and I anticipated.

Oh, and have no fear!  The girls and I have no intentions whatsoever of becoming hunters. We take one look at a deer and our hearts turn to mush.  So, you can sleep easy tonight. :)

P.S.  My bloggy friend, Honey, is having a really neat giveaway!  Head on over to her place at 2805 and check it out!

I like that you had you daughters take a gun safety course! We don't and will not have them in our house, but ignorance is NOT bliss in this case!

One of the first things my children did when we moved Below the Mason Dixon Line was go to the Shoot Safe Booth at the State Fair as part of a preschool field trip. As I was helping them (we were all dismal) all I could think was that they would get on the phone with their dad that night and say, "Daddy, Mamma let us shoot guns!" They didn't!

Sniff. I'm so proud. As a good Texan, I've been shooting for ages.

I grew up around guns. We went hunting for food not sport. So I learned to shoot at an early age. Since we had guns in the house, my dad insisted that we learn about them--their power and how to use and clean them. I don't have a gun now, but have no fear of the gun itself. It's those crazy people that are the problem.

My hubs likes to shoot (he is from Tennessee ya know!) but not to kill anything. I'd like to try the skeet or clay pigeons sometime.

that so great that you all went shooting with your hubby! everyone should know how to shoot a gun and practice proper gun safety! I can't believe Abby's favorite is the .38 revolver! I do not like revolvers at all. I prefer rifles over handguns anyway, but of all the handguns out there, I really dislike revolvers. That's awesome she likes it! Ella has her very own .22. It's pink!

Looks like a fun time was had by all. My husband and I do alot of target practice, it's a great way to relieve stress. We go up in the mountains and shoot things like raw eggs. :)

My husband belongs to a range. Guns are his passion. (He doesn't shoot animals) The whole family will go but I have never been. I will look at his new guns when he buys them but I don't even like to hold them. They scare me! Glad you had such a nice time. I know my family loves it!

I love to target practice with my hubby~ it's a great stress reliever. :) (Even though as I'm getting older, I find it getting harder to SEE the target... *hehe*)

I live with a houseful of hunters and I am the ONLY one who doesn't shoot those deer.

I don't like to shoot guns, even though it has been many many years since I tried.

I do love to shoot my bow though. But only at targets...I can't bring myself to go hunting either.
