Can you believe it? Two Hodgepodge's for me in a row...progress, people! Let's hope I can keep the momentum going for awhile. If you'd like to join in on the fun, all you need to do is answer the questions on your own blog and link up. Here we go...
1. Give us three rhyming words that say something about your Thanksgiving holiday (or your most recent holiday gathering if you didn't celebrate Thanksgiving). Eat, sweep, beat. I'll explain...there was a lot of eating going on. Afterwards, I swept the floor and that night and I was worn out, but it was all worth it!
2. When did you last say "the more, the merrier"? Did you mean it? I honestly have no idea. I know I use that phrase pretty often, but I can't recall when the last time was or what it was in reference to...sorry.
3. What's one piece of advice you'd give someone who is your same age? Don't take life so seriously. Laugh, act silly, have fun!
4. You're ordering a veggie plate. What four veggies are on it? Roasted potatoes, green beans, fried okra (that's the Southern gal in me), and buttery corn on the cob.
5. Shop 'til you drop? Did you? Have you ever? Will you between now and Christmas? Well, if shopping on Cyber Monday counts, then, yes, I have shopped 'til I nearly dropped. I shopped online from about 8 AM on Monday until around noon or so. After I got home from church, I picked back up until almost 10 PM. Good part...I'm just about DONE!
6. What's your favorite chair in your house? Why is it your favorite? The big, comfy recliner we have in our family room. I love it because it I can kick back in it and relax.
7. Share an early memory of faith, religion, or spirituality. My family and I never attended church together growing up. I remember when I was in the 2nd grade and had a friend named Teresa whose dad was a minister at an Assembly of God church in Hot Springs, AR. They invited me to church, which was a new experience for me. When church got over, they would treat me to a lunch buffet at the Ramada Inn downtown. It made a big impression on me because they were showing me God's grace and love. It was the first stepping stone to my becoming a Christian at the age of 15.
8. Insert your own random thought here. We are knee-deep in rehearsals for our Christmas program at church on Dec. 10-11. Tonight, we'll rehearse from 6-9:45 PM. I didn't realize it until Sunday night that I'm on stage (dead center) for a good part of the program. I'm a tad nervous about it, but God and I have it covered, right? All I pray for is that the message of hope is projected well to all who attend. After all, it isn't about me...it's about HIM! I'm just grateful to be part of it.
Have a terrific Wednesday...come on, rain! We need it so badly here!

April... good luck with your Christmas production. I'm sure you will do great!!
How fun to be part of the program. I'm sure you'll be great! So glad you enjoyed your Thanksgiving. I'm glad your friends home is okay. We have family in the mountains in Townsend, and my hubs parents are in Maryville which is the foothills and not in danger, but the air isn't good. So so sad to see the devastation in the mountains. One of our favorite places in the world.
I am a cyber shopper too!!!!
Stores give me anxiety.
For real!
Praying for your much needed rain, my friend.
Loved your faith filled story!
Really enjoyed reading your answers today, April and trusting that you will get back into the regular blog posting that you enjoy doing and we enjoy reading. Also hoping you get the rain we sent without the storms that accompanied it.
It's been a long time since I've been part of a Christmas program. I hope you enjoy it.
I love how you came to find God. By people sharing His grace and love. How perfect for this time of year.
I agree with your #3!! We do that a lot around here. And I always appreciate someone's faith journey. God is gracious and merciful. And about okra, I have tasted it twice, but being a northerner, I just can't get into it - or grits - . I like the look of okra with its cute inside full of seeds, but it seems a little slimy to me. If I found fresh okra, what would I do with it?
I so enjoyed reading your Hodgepodge answers! I'm sure your Christmas concert will be great! We will attend the Christmas concert at the Methodist church here in town. They put on quite a production and we really enjoy it. Our church doesn't do a big production for Christmas. Good luck!!
I believe that anyone who is front and center, or on stage anywhere, is nothing less than brave! I just couldn't do it. I would freeze up. Yes, even at my age. :) I loved fried okra when I was growing up but no one makes it like my grandmother did so I don't eat it anymore.
Cyber shopping is the way to go! It beats fighting crowds and traffic.
Best wishes with your Christmas program :) I'm sure it'll be beautiful.

I enjoyed reading your hodgepodge answers, April. I do like me some fried okra too! Have you ever had okra fries? OMGoodness! It is such a blessing that that friend's family invited you to church that day. We just never know how we can effect someone else's life by one small gesture of kindness. It has been years since I have been front and center in a Christmas program...but I have and I remember the nerves. The Lord always showed up, especially the time I drew a blank right as my solo was to begin. Just at the last notes of he musical introduction, it came to me. I thought I was going to die! :)
Today after running errands which has involved some shopping, I dropped into my comfy chair.
Oh, wish I could be there for your performance. I love music anytime but especially at Christmas. I'm kicked back in my recliner right now awaiting the new Dolly Parton movie. Blessings abundant!!!
Hi! So glad you had a wonderful Thanksgiving - your program will be wonderful, I"m sure! I"ll be praying that God brings exactly the message that people need to hear! Glad you are back on the Hodgepodge circuit!
Enjoyed your answers, especially #3. That gets truer and truer the older you get! With the exception of one thing I did all my shopping online and it is a relief to have it over. Gone are the days of rushing store to store in a stressed out frenzy!
Good luck with your performance, I'm sure you will rock it! We picked the same veggies...except okra, I substituted glazed carrots. I like okra fried but it's not a first choice when it comes to a veggie plate. I'd never had it until I moved to the South. Have a good week.
Cheers!

Good luck on your Christmas program.
Great rhyme! Yummy veggie plate. I shopped til I dropped online Friday after Thanksgiving and a little more on Monday. Like your story on faith. My children haven't grown up with church but I pray they find their way to Him. I grew up going, my parents were very active but we never talked about God in our home. I became a Christian myself at 38 years old. I love that you are involved with your church program.
