Wednesday Hodgepodge

Good morning on this rainy Wednesday! Happy to participate in Hodgepodge this morning! Care to join? Just answer the questions on your own blog and link up.

1.  Did you watch "The Charlie Brown Christmas Special" on Monday night? Who's your favorite Peanuts character and why? No, I didn't watch it. There must have been something else on that I found more interesting, I suppose. My favorite character is Lucy. She might be on the bossy side, but I appreciate the fact that she is able to speak her mind, not that that's always a good thing. "Most psychiatrists believe that sitting in a pumpkin patch is excellent therapy for a troubled mind."~Linus Would you agree?  Absolutely! For me, there is nothing more calming to my soul than time alone. I probably wouldn't choose a pumpkin patch, but the mountains or a lake work wonders.

2.  Describe a sound from your childhood. What does that sound bring to mind?  My mom and dad were big fans of Connie Stevens, Neil Diamond, Andy Williams, and Kris Kristofferson to name a few. Every time I hear one of their songs being played on the radio, it puts a lump in my throat because I miss my mom and dad...always will.

3.  You're won a trip to a winter wonderland...would that excite you? Which one of the following would you most want to experience (or which one would you dislike the least)-see the Aurora Borealis in Norway, stay in Sweden's Ice Hotel, go dogsledding in Lapland Finland, take a winter wildlife safari in Yellowstone, or celebrate Winter Carnival in Quebec? I'd give anything to see the Aurora Borealis! Doesn't it look amazing?

I can assure you that there is no way I'd stay in a hotel made of ice. Chris thinks I have cold feet now...poor fella couldn't handle it.

4.  Who or what keeps you humble? Definitely my faith in God. I am constantly reminding myself that all of the blessings I have in life come solely from Him.

5.  What part of preparing for Christmas do you like the most? Explain. I enjoy wrapping presents because I can let my creative juices flow...and that can be a real stretch! ;)

6.  Gingerbread-yay or nay/ Is making a gingerbread house part of your holiday tradition? I'm not a fan of gingerbread, at all. No, making a gingerbread house is not part of our holiday tradition. The girls and I attempted to create one from a kit several years ago and the roof and walls fell in almost immediately. We had a good laugh, but haven't attempted once since.

7.  What's one thing you start, do, or complete before the calendar rolls into a new year? I make one final contribution to Good Will so that we can claim it on our taxes. I'm going to do just that in a couple of weeks as my closet is starting to pile up, again. Out with the old...in with the new!

8.  Insert your own random thought here. Abby just left for work...her shift starts at 7AM. I'm curious...do any of you head out to do your holiday shopping that early in the morning during the weekday? She isn't expecting to have anyone shop that early and said shoppers likely won't show up until around 8:30 AM. My shopping is almost done...whoop, whoop!

Happy Wednesday!

April.. sounds like we were in the same boat when it came to gingerbread houses. I remember when I worked in retail a hundred years ago working long hours. Have a good week.

I have never gotten up that early on a weekday to go Christmas shopping. On a weekend, yes, but NEVER on a Wednesday...

Your answer for #2 put a lump in my throat too. What a bittersweet memory.

If I didnt work, I'd be out that early shopping. On weekends, Ricky & I are usually there at 7am or when stores open - we like to beat the crowds.

enjoyed your hodgepodge

I don't shop that early : ) I guess it's not a bad idea to try and beat the crowds. I almost said the Gaither's music because my parents loved it and played it on Sunday mornings while we were all dressing for church. When I catch them on TV now I usually stop and listen. Happy December!

I do most of my shopping on line and find better deals most of the time, with free shipping from Amazon Prime. I would never hit the stores at 7:00. If I'm not going to work, I'm in bed at that time and enjoying sleeping in!! Joyce gave us another fun Hodgepodge! I enjoyed your answers!

I do not shop that early...ever! My daughter had to open her stor at 5 a.m. on Black Friday and there were people waiting as she drove up to open! There's just nothing really that would make me do that. I enjoyed your hidgepdge!

Hey friend! Whoa - what store does she work at that opens at 7am?! Around here only the grocery stores are open that early! (And yes, I have gone there at that time... it is blissful) Now I need to go get a gingerbread house to decorate with my kiddos! :-)

I would like to see the Aurora Borealis, also. I haven't started my Christmas shopping, but I have gotten both daughters a little something for their birthdays which are December 26th and December 30th.

I wouldn't be shopping that early but I do wish that all stores were open by 9:00AM all year long though. Abundant blessings!

I said Norway too I'd love to see that. I'm not much for shopping, so I wouldn't tupically shop that early.

Goodness that's early to be shopping although the first year supermarkets opened here 24/7 I did end up doing Christmas shopping around midnight! I opted for Norway too. The others all sound too cold ;)

That's a nice childhood memory with the music your parents played. Like your answer to being humble. I think we need a ladies trip to Norway. A lot of us picked that one. No I do not go out that early to shop. My shopping is not done but I'm getting it all organized to work on next week. Still decorating this week!
