Worth The Pain And Agony

Ever since we moved to Georgia 6 1/2 yrs. ago, I've suffered from horrible nasal allergies that come and go with the seasons. They hit especially hard in the springtime and it gets to the point where I can't breathe through my nose.  I am fine all day long, generally, but about an hour before I go to bed, I can feel the pressure starting to build in my nose and before long, I'm completely stopped up. In a moment of complete desperation, I, usually, put a couple of shots of nasal spray in each nostril just so I can sleep.  I have even tried Saline Nasal Mist and various prescription nasal sprays, but nothing has really done the trick. It's so frustrating!

Well, the other day I was in Wal-Mart and came across a nasal spray that caught my attention. I picked up the box, read a quick description of it, and decided it was worth a try. Maybe, just maybe, this could be the answer to my troubles...

So, on Friday night, the day of my purchase, I followed the directions and gave two swift squirts into each nostril. Oh, my word...I, literally, doubled over in PAIN!  The burning sensation I had in my nose was like my sinuses had been lit on fire...no exaggeration! It hurt like the dickens! When I was able to wipe away the tears that had formed in my eyes, I turned the bottle around to see what the main ingredients was...Capsicum Ammun, which is derived from hot chili peppers. That explained the intense burning!  In fact, it's the same ingredient used in pepper spray!  Ring a bell?  Click here if you'd like to learn more.

Needless to say, after a minute or two, my nose cleared completely up and I could breathe easily, again. Since that time, I've used it daily and have not had the first problem with nasal congestion.  So, even though it burns like CRAZY, I am definitely a believer!  I feel like a new woman! Hmm...wonder if it would cure our snoring dacschund?  Oh, Maddie...

I've actually been reading a lot right now about Capsicum & how for neuropathy, you should find creams with that in it & rub on your feet. They give the same warning - that its gonna be HOT until you get used to it, but then it numbs the nerve endings. Maybe that's what it did to your nose? :)

I used eye drops a few months back that burned like the BEEEJEEZZZZ!!! Dont know what the heck was in that product!
Glad you found something that worked though.
I know everyone probably has asked - ever try the NediPot? It really is nice. I'm a Saline girl myself - use it daily when I take my vitamins. Good to flush it out constantly.

"Hurt like the dickens" HAHA! I haven't heard that one for awhile. I'm glad that it cleared up for you, now if only there was an easier way than red hot chili peppers!

Ouchie!!!! For me, it's up in my head, not my nose. And it HURTS!! My headaches are killer! And it's weather related not allergies. I do not miss the GA hayfever/ragweed season though.

Hugs and happy 'burning', lol!

I guess that's one way to remove the hair from a nose! Yikes!
I started sprinkling it on my petunias when, after planting, finding them chewed down to the nubs the next day by a squirrel. I was steamed! Since I didn't have a pellet gun I resorted to the pepper stuff!

Sounds like a real winner..! Just make sure that you Google the heck out of it and make sure that it doesn't have any long-lasting side effects. I used a nasal spray several years ago that burned like that and worked very well. But, after using it for a year or so, I realized that I had gradually lost my sense of smell. It has never returned. :<( I cannot cook as well as I used to, because I can't taste things (smell and taste are intertwined). If you have a baby/toddler or work in preschool, there IS a bonus of not being able to smell those dirty diapers when you have to change them, though!

My Dr. Prescribed me a nasal spray.. It works most days. But yesterday I think my issue was due to the sandstorm that came though the day before... All I know is that I hate that stuffed up feeling... I may end up buying that nasal spray you use just to see if it works better. :)

Does the burning feel as strong now as when you first started using the spray? I'm afraid, but I, too, suffer from seasonal allergies.

I am glad that it works for you! I cannot spray anything in my nose. I have never been able to!
